Gisteren is het werk voor Laren opgehaald. Na drukke dagen met veel verf heb ik toen eerst het atelier geboend en heb daarna bij de buren heerlijke kip gegeten.
Mijn werk is dit voorjaar sterk onder invloed gekomen van de cursus die ik volgde over de periode waarin de Vlaamse Primitieven hoogtij vierden. De hoorcolleges waren voor mij een warme douche. Beelden opslurpen, weetjes horen, maar zeker me helemaal bezighouden met deze tijd waarin magie bekende taal is. Aan het werk aan dit schilderij hoorde ik iemand Leonard Cohen citeren:
‘There is a crack in everything, thats’ where the light gets in’. met mijn penseel nog boven het doek wist ik waarom ik dit werk aan het maken ben. Ik wist het helemaal zeker.
